Upward Correction Of Low Bid Allowed Bids-mistakes

The South Carolina Supreme Court has allowed an upward correction of a low bid, leaving the bidder in line for contract award.

The Lexington County School District One issued an invitation for bids for construction of an addition to a high school building. When bids were opened, Sharp Construction Co. was the low bidder and Martin Engineering, Inc. was second low.

Immediately after bid opening, Sharp notified the District that it had accidentally omitted the price quotation of its intended roofing subcontractor. Sharp requested permission to add that price to its bid amount, which would still leave Sharp's bid lower than that of Martin. The D [...]
