Contractor Gave Supervisor "Apparent Authority" Changes-directed

A contractor has been held responsible for extra work an on-site supervisor ordered from a subcontractor. The contractor had conferred "apparent authority"on its supervisor.

Hallmark Development, Inc. awarded a contract to Hillebrand Construction of the Midwest, Inc. to build a 30- unit apartment complex in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Hillebrand subcontracted a substantial portion of the work. During the course of the project, Hillebrand's on-site project supervisor passed away.
