Sub Can't Avoid Licensing Requirement Licenses; Payment

A California court has ruled that an unlicensed subcontractor could not recover payment even though the sub was duly licensed in another state and had all the work on site performed by a company licensed in California.

Peck/Jones-OC America Construction, prime contractor for the refurbishment of the Sherman Oaks Galleria, subcontracted certain fabrication and finish work to Themeing Solutions, Inc. Themeing was a licensed contractor in Nevada, but not in California.
